How do I pronounce Mackinac?

Mackinac Island is pronounced MACK-i-naw. The name comes from the Ojibwe word "Michilimackinac" and the French spelling with a "c" at the end is pronounced as "aw," not as a hard "k" sound. PLEASE LEARN HOW TO PRONOUNCE IT BEFORE ARRIVING.

How do I get to Mackinac Island?

To get to Mackinac Island, most people take a ferry from Mackinaw City or St. Ignace. Visitors can also fly into Pellston International Airport (PLN) and take a shuttle to the mainland, or take a private boat to the island's marina. Once on the island, there are no cars, so visitors get around by bicycle, foot, or horse-drawn carriage.

Where do I go once on the island?

It's easier than you think to get to Mackinac Island - just board the ferry and you're on your way. Once on the island, you may take a taxi, ride on the Mackinac Island Carriage Tours shuttle servicing Mission Point, or enjoy the short 15-minute walk. The resort is situated on the east end of the Mission District. Please keep in mind that the Taxi Shuttle Service is $9.00 per adult and drivers can only accept cash; the horses take a break from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm and Shuttle Service is not available during this time. What are the ferry schedules for 2026?

Below you will find the ferry schedule for the week of the wedding. Make sure to get to the ferry before noon on September 6th or YOU WILL BE STUCK ON THE ISLAND!

What time should I arrive for the wedding?

We ask that everyone that is in the wedding party be at Mission Point Resort no later than 9AM on the day of. Guests can arrive before the ceremony at 1PM, but we ask that you anticipate crowds and traffic and leave a bit early to be on time.

Can I bring my pet?

No pets are allowed at the wedding ceremony & reception. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I don't like to walk, is there another way to travel around the island?

You can request a horse drawn taxi on the island by calling: (906) 847-3323. CASH ONLY.
